Sept 2, 2008 - Bellingham, WA
Sequoia Technologies, Inc. announced today that its Falcon 2X stabilized gimbal system was selected by Hand Crank Films to provide stabilized digital cinema footage for a special features video narrated by Academy Award winning actor, Morgan Freeman.
The special features video was filmed for Bellingham author Clyde Ford's Vanguard release of his suspense thriller, Precious Cargo, which stars Ruby Dee, Roscoe Orman, and Swil Kanim. The video premieres today at The Leopold's Crystal Ballroom in Bellingham.
For the project, Sequoia modified one of its Falcon 2X camera stabilization systems for use with the popular RED One digital cinema camera. Sequoia's technology allows extremely stable and smooth imagery from the super high resolution Red camera on moving platforms. Sequoia provided the camera stabilization system and operated the camera system for Hand Crank Films.
Dr. Keith Denoyer, Sequoia's President & CEO, stated, "We are absolutely thrilled to be involved in a high caliber local project like this and demonstrate the capabilities of our technology for digital cinema projects involving the RED camera. It was a unique opportunity."
Sequoia is currently expanding its Washington operations in Ferndale, WA. The Ferndale operation will house a state-of-the-art research and design center as well as fabrication and test capabilities for Sequoia's precision motion control products.
